Will Fort Worth trash collection happen on Veterans Day this year?

Fort Worth trash pickup is normally delayed for holidays, so will the service operate on Veterans Day?

Veterans Day, which is observed on Nov. 11, falls on a Tuesday this year. Fort Worth trash pickup runs on its normal schedule during holidays, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. All other holidays are normal service days, even if the City of Fort Worth offices are closed.

Trash collection in Fort Worth happens Monday through Friday, depending on where you live. Garbage cans must be properly placed on the curb at 7 a.m. to ensure pickup.

Will trash be collected on Veterans Day in Fort Worth?

Residents who get their trash picked up on Tuesdays can still expect pickup on Veterans Day, according to the City of Fort Worth’s garbage collection holiday calendar.

Will trash be collected on Thanksgiving in Fort Worth?

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, Nov. 27, this year.

There will be no trash collection on Thanksgiving. So, Thursday pickup will be on Friday. And Friday pickup will take place Saturday.

What to do if you miss trash collection

If you miss trash collection, you can either report a missed collection for the city to come pick it up, or you can drop off your garbage at a collection center.

To report a missing collection, contact the 311 Contact Center. You can do so by either calling (817) 392-1234, emailing 311@fortworthtexas.gov, using the MyFW app or dialing 311 on your phone.

A missed collection must be reported within 24 hours of your scheduled pickup day, or it will not be picked up.

The collection centers are located at:

  • Brennan Drop-off Station: 2400 Brennan Ave.
  • Southeast Drop-off Station: 5150 Martin Luther King Freeway
  • Old Hemphill Road Drop-off Station: 6260 Old Hemphill Road
  • Hillshire Drop-off Station (North Service Center): 301 Hillshire Dr.

Drop-off stations are open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
