Man in custody after standoff, chase in Fort Worth
A man who led police on a high-speed chase through southeast Fort Worth was in custody 31/2 hours later after he barricaded himself in his house, authorities said.
Police on Monday identified the suspect as Antonio Juan Delgado, 28, of Fort Worth.
Patrol officers were sent to a house in the 5100 block of Nolan Street off East Seminary Drive at 2:15 p.m. Sunday on a disturbance call, Cpl. Tracey Knight, a Fort Worth police spokeswoman, wrote in an email.
Delgado took off in his pickup through numerous streets including Wilbarger, East Berry and Miller, and police put down traffic spikes to try and stop him, but he evaded them, according to conversations on the police scanner.
Delgado drove at speeds that reached 99 mph, police said.
At some point he returned to the house, where he barricaded himself for at least an hour, according to the conversations.
SWAT and hostage negotiators were called to the scene, and he was taken into custody without incident at 5:45 p.m., Knight said.
Delgado was in the Mansfield Jail Monday morning with bail set at $10,000.
He faces a charge of evading arrest, according to jail records.
Before Sunday, Delgado had been charged with assault with bodily injury/family, according to Tarrant County criminal court records. That incident occurred on May 31 in Fort Worth.
