If you’re looking for a COVID-19 vaccine in Fort Worth, you might have a hard time finding one.

That’s because in August, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the 2025-26 COVID vaccines only for adults age 65 and older and people under 65 with pre-existing conditions that put them at high risk for severe illness for COVID. That means fewer people are eligible for the vaccine than in previous years, when everyone over the age of 6 months was eligible.

If you don’t meet the FDA guidelines, you’ll probably have a hard time getting a vaccine, unless you can find a pharmacist who will provide the booster shot “off label” or you get a prescription for the vaccine. But, vaccine access could change after the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices meets later this month. But for now, access varies widely by pharmacy location and by state.

We reached out to the major pharmacies in Fort Worth, and most of them said they were following the FDA COVID-19 vaccine label, meaning that you can get the booster shot if you’re 65 and older or if you have a pre-existing condition. Most pharmacies said they ask you to self-attest your pre-existing condition if you have one.

We recommend calling your pharmacy before you go to confirm they have COVID-19 vaccines in stock and that they’ll administer them to you.

Albertson’s pharmacies: Policies vary by location. One pharmacy we called said they were only distributing the vaccine to those 65 and older, but another location said they were distributing the vaccine to anyone 65 and older or with underlying conditions.

Costco pharmacies: Anyone 65 and older or with an underlying condition is eligible.

CVS pharmacies: Anyone 65 and older or with an underlying condition is eligible.

H-E-B pharmacies: Anyone 13 or older can get a vaccine.

Kroger pharmacies: Anyone 65 and older or with an underlying condition is eligible.

Sam’s Club pharmacies: Anyone 65 and older or with an underlying condition is eligible.

Tom Thumb pharmacies: Anyone 65 and older or with an underlying condition is eligible.

Walgreens pharmacies: Anyone 65 and older or with an underlying condition is eligible.

Walmart pharmacies: Anyone 65 and older or with an underlying condition is eligible.
