The city of Fort Worth is offering monetary relief to homeowners still dealing with the aftereffects of February 2021 winter storm, which brought sub-zero temperatures to Texas, resulting in tens of billions of dollars in statewide property damage.

Under its new Homeowner Assistance Repair and Rehabilitation Program, or HARRP, the city of Fort Worth has $27 million to help residents repair damage to their homes caused by the storm. To be eligible, an applicant must occupy the property as his or her primary residence and must have done so during the storm.

Homeowners also must prove the storm directly caused the damage they’re requesting assistance with. It’s important to note, however, this program is not intended to reimburse people for repairs already made.

Additionally, HARRP funds are only available to homeowners whose household income is at or below 80% of the area median income as calculated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. For Fort Worth, that ranges from $59,750 for a household of one to $112,700 for a household of eight.

The deadline to submit a HARRP application is Nov. 25. For additional details and a link to apply, visit Fort Worth’s Neighborhood Services page.
