Apartments could spring up on this vacant land in far north Fort Worth
A plot of land once seen as the future home of a youth soccer complex could become the site of an apartment complex.
Arizona-based Alliance Residential Company is proposing building the “Prose Basswood” on a nearly 16-acre plot north of Basswood Boulevard and west of Old Denton Road, according to documents filed with the city of Fort Worth
The site plan shows the rough outline of the development, but specifics about how many units, how many stories, and what the building would look like were not mentioned.
City rules at the site allow for a maximum of 24 units per acre, which would add up to roughly 382 apartments.
A representative for the developer did not respond to an email from the Star-Telegram requesting comment.
Prose is Alliance Residential’s workforce housing brand started in 2018 to address the need for more quality affordable housing, according to the company’s website.
The company has developed Prose-branded buildings Denton, Aubrey and Anna.
The site was originally envisioned as the home of a 20-field youth soccer complex, which a 2019 Fort Worth Sports Commission study estimated could bring as many as 100,000 visitors and generate as much as $16 million annually for Fort Worth.
However, the city rezoned the land in August 2022 to create a buffer between the single-family homes east of Old Denton Road and more intense commercial development closer to Interstate 35W.
