Fort Worth City Hall hosting vigil for Hill Country flood victims

The city of Fort Worth is hosting a vigil for victims of the Hill Country flood on Monday, according to a news release.

At 7 p.m. on July 14, Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker will hold a candlelight vigil on the back porch of City Hall, the release states. The program will begin at 7:30, and green ribbons and candles will be passed out to attendees.

The vigil invites the community to grieve and show support for those impacted by the flood.

People will be able to donate to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund and give supplies to the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army has a list of requested items for donation, which include hygiene supplies, shovels and trash bags.

City and community leaders, as well as Parker’s faith cabinet, will attend the vigil.

Parker, Doxology Bible Church Pastor Chris Freeland, Fort Worth Fire Department Chaplain Cliff Weaver, FWFD Assistance Chief Ray Hill and Fort Worth Police Department Interim Chief Robert Alldredge will be leading the vigil, the release states. Musician Grady Spencer will be performing during the event.
