82-year-old Tarrant County man killed by dogs while working in his yard

ARCHIVO DEL MIAMI HERALD

An 82-year-old Tarrant County man was attacked and killed by dogs while working in his yard Monday, officials said.

Sheriff’s deputies were called around 4 p.m. to the 7800 block of Slay Street, in a neighborhood just south of Eagle Mountain Lake. They found a man “with wounds consistent with dog bites,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Thursday. The man was already dead when the deputies arrived.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Ronald Charles Anderson of Fort Worth.

Deputies removed three dogs from a neighbor’s property.

Anderson’s daughter, Cinda Sackett, told KXAS-TV that the dogs came through a hole in the fence and have attacked other neighbors in the past.

“It was not a necessary death, and it definitely could have been prevented,” Sackett told KXAS.

The investigation into Anderson’s death is ongoing, according to the release. The Sheriff’s Office hasn’t said if the dogs’ owner will face charges.
