Pedestrian killed on Fort Worth highway


A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Airport Freeway Tuesday night near downtown Fort Worth, police said.
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Airport Freeway Tuesday night near downtown Fort Worth, police said.

A woman walking in the traffic lanes of Airport Freeway was hit and killed by a motorist Tuesday night, police said.

The identity of the woman had not been released as of Wednesday morning.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene in the 2200 block of Airport Freeway.

Patrol officers reported that the woman had been walking in the westbound lanes of the freeway east of where it crosses the West Fork of the Trinity River about 10 p.m. when she was hit by the vehicle.

The motorist stopped and called 911, police said.

No charges are expected to be filed against the driver, police said.

Police continued their investigation Wednesday.
