Boy dies weeks after mom’s SUV rolled over on Fort Worth highway
An 8-year-old boy died at a hospital Sunday afternoon, three weeks after he and his siblings were injured in a rollover crash on an east Fort Worth freeway.
Jonathan Reyes of Haltom City was pronounced dead at 3:25 p.m. Sunday at Cook Children’s Medical Center, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner.
Jonathan and his three siblings were taken to local hospitals July 18 after their mom’s Ford SUV rolled over, according to a statement from Fort Worth police.
The mother was eastbound near the Bridgewood Drive exit and had to make “an evasive move in reaction to a separate vehicle in front of her,” wrote Sgt. Steve Enright, a Fort Worth police spokesman.
This caused the SUV to roll over, and the four children, ages 2 to 13, to be hospitalized. Initial reports said one child was ejected and taken to a hospital via air ambulance. Enright said he did not know Monday night if Jonathan was that child.
His siblings had injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.
