Fort Worth mother dies in hospital after car crash and baby’s death in Trinity River

A Fort Worth mother who was pulled out of the Trinity River after her car crashed into the water over the weekend died Tuesday morning in the ICU at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital.

Melanie Latrese Robinson, 38, died about 3 a.m. on March 25, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Melanie Robinson was in the car with her 1-year-old son, Jonas Allen, when they crashed into the Trinity River along Beach Street about 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, according to authorities and their family. First responders rescued the mother from the water on Saturday night and a dive team recovered the baby’s body on Sunday morning.

Melanie’s sister Jasmine Robinson organized a GoFundMe to raise money for Jonas’ funeral expenses and she asked for prayers for the family.

Fort Worth police have said that detectives are investigating the cause of the crash. Autopsy results are pending, according to the medical examiner’s office website.
