An American Airlines flight from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to New Delhi, India, diverted to Rome due to a “possible security concern,” the Fort Worth based Airlines said in a statement.

Flight 292, landed safely at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport and law enforcement inspected and cleared the aircraft to redepart, according to the statement.

According to multiple media sources the flight rerouted after a bomb threat.

The threat was determined to be non-credible, but per Delhi Airport protocol, an inspection was required before landing, the statement read.

The flight might stay in Rome overnight to allow for required crew rest before continuing to DEL as soon as Monday, American Airlines said.

“Safety and security are our top priorities and we apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” the statement read.
