Man sentenced in multimillion-dollar insurance fraud scheme, North Texas feds announce
A man has been sentenced to over 13 years in federal prison for his role in a $5 million insurance fraud scheme, North Texas federal attorneys said Thursday.
32-year-old Jordan Ford pleaded guilty in September 2024 to a charge of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, according to officials with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.
Ford and others recruited insurance company employees to steal customers’ information and hand it over to the group, according to court documents.
Ford would then pose as the client, call the company and change payment information to accounts he owned, officials said.
Ford also paid insurance company employees to loan him their company-issued laptops, from which he would authorize and send payments to his bank accounts, according to court documents.
Eight other people, including four insurance company employees, also pleaded guilty in the scheme, officials said.
Together, the group stole over $4.4 million from insurance companies, according to a statement from the attorney’s office.
