Fort Worth Apple store at University Park Village closed after gas leak; Starbucks reopens
The Apple Store at University Park Village in Fort Worth, at 1620 S. University Drive, has been temporarily closed due to a gas leak that started over the weekend.
A spokesperson for Apple said on Thursday, Feb. 20, that repairs are currently ongoing, and customers can get updates about when the store will reopen from its website.
Customers who stopped by the store on Thursday afternoon looked confused as they read a sign that says, “Closed until further notice,” posted outside. The notice did not clarify why the store was closed.
The neighboring Starbucks and Williams Sonoma stores were closed on Saturday and Sunday, but both stores have reopened after getting clearance from Atmos Energy, one employee said.
The employee at Williams Sonoma, who did not want to be identified, said that after the leak happened on Saturday, Feb. 15, the store was closed until Monday, Feb. 17.
One of their employees who worked that day ended up going to the hospital emergency room, the employee told Star-Telegram.
The store was closed on Tuesday, but is now open, the employee said.
A spokesperson for Atmos Energy said the reason for the current closure is “unrelated to Atmos Energy” and referred questions to the store’s management.
University Park Village management did not immediately respond to the Star-Telegram’s request for comment.
It is unclear what caused the gas leak.
