You can learn how to save a life by going to the library in Fort Worth. Here’s how
You can learn how to save a life this month through a series of trainings at Fort Worth public libraries.
The Fort Worth Public Library system is partnering with the Fort Worth fire department to offer trainings on hands-only CPR and AED use throughout the month of February.
Fort Worth firefighters will teach teens and adults the life-saving skills of CPR, as well as how to use an AED. The course is not a certification course, but can still allow participants to learn skills that could save someone’s life during a cardiac arrest.
A person’s likelihood of surviving cardiac arrest is directly tied to how quickly they get treatment. The sooner a bystander calls 911, begins CPR, and uses an AED, the greater chance that person has to survive. The classes at Fort Worth libraries will help “demystify” hands-only CPR and how to use an AED, said Theresa Davis, spokesperson for the public library system, so that attendees can feel confident stepping in if someone goes into cardiac arrest.
Davis said the February lessons come after the library offered similar classes in the fall. The first round of classes had a strong turnout, Davis said, moving the library and fire departments to offer twice as many classes in February.
Classes are scheduled for the following dates and locations:
