Fort Worth firefighters rescue and revive family’s dog during house fire on south side
Fort Worth firefighters rescued a dog from a burning home and revived the pet with oxygen while responding to a call on the city’s south side.
The Fire Department was called to the 1400 block of West Spurgeon Street, where a blaze engulfed a house around 5:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31.
Crews found heavy flames coming from the front of the home and focused their efforts on search and rescue while also cutting holes in the roof of the house to release smoke and gas, the Fire Department said in a social media post.
When firefighters found the dog, they brought it outside and administered oxygen for about 20 minutes. Once the dog’s condition improved, he was returned to his owner.
No other injuries were reported in the fire. The cause is under investigation.
