Teen identified in fatal Fort Worth highway accident
A teen critically injured last week after he was hit by a car as he walked in the traffic lanes on the West Freeway has died, officials said.
He was identified as Jose Eusebio, 18, of Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Sunday. Eusebio died at 7:25 a.m. Thursday at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. A ruling on his death was pending.
Eusebio was hit early Wednesday, police said.
Police received a report at 3:37 a.m. Wednesday about a man running down the freeway near Summit Avenue.
As officers responded, a motorist called to report that he believed he had hit a pedestrian on the freeway near University Drive. The 28-year-old driver told a dispatcher that he did not know the pedestrian’s location.
Minutes later, patrol officers found Eusebio lying on the inside shoulder of the freeway.
