Members of the Costco Wholesale in far north Fort Worth may soon find it harder to get to and from their hauls.

The city next month will begin repaving a roughly half-mile segment of North Tarrant Parkway running from Interstate 35W service roads to North Riverside Drive. Construction crews expect to finish the $2.88 million facelift by April.

North Tarrant Parkway slices east and west through 10 miles of subdivisions stretched through Fort Worth, Keller, North Richland Hills. Its westernmost lanes service bustling shopping centers near Alliance and commuters hopping on and off I-35W and U.S. 287.

The section slated for repavement is flanked by Medical City Alliance, several independent medical practices, and an apartment complex. About a mile west, TxDOT is rebuilding roads and rotaries bordering U.S. 287 — well behind schedule.

The city will stagger temporary lane closures along North Tarrant Parkway over the course of construction. Workers may block off driveways on the street, officials warned. Workers will repair any unkempt sidewalks or landscaping within the city’s right-of-way.

The Transportation and Public Works department plans to repave other chunks of the roadway, according to a city spokesperson, but has yet to spell out a detailed schedule for the work.
