A Fort Worth man who police said shot and killed a trucker delivering gasoline to a convenience store in May has been indicted on a murder charge.

Lendon Lee Adams, 23, who was in the Tarrant County Jail on Thursday, also faces a charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon. Bail was set at $100,000, according to jail records.

Adams is suspected of killing Jonathan Luevano after he arrived at a QuikTrip in the 5700 block of Bryant Irvin Road at about 1:30 a.m. May 7. Luevano was found dead in his tanker truck about 21/2 hours later.

On security camera footage, investigators saw a 2009 white Ford Mustang circle a set of gas pumps before driving toward the tanker. Five or six gunshots were heard before the car drove away on Bryant Irvin Road, police said.

Hours later, a detective leaving the crime scene spotted a white Mustang in front of him at a traffic light.

The Mustang was pulled over. Detectives got a search warrant, and in the car they found a Glock 9mm semiautomatic handgun, a Colt .380-caliber semiautomatic handgun and three cartridge casings.

Police announced the arrest of Adams, who was driving the Mustang, the next day. Preliminary ballistics tests indicated that Luevano was shot by the Glock, police said.

At the time, police had determined no connection between Adams and the dead truck driver.
