Casey Donahew always enjoys playing in Fort Worth.

The Burleson native began playing music professionally in 2002 and released his first album “Lost Days” in 2006. In the years since, Donahew released 11 additional albums, including his latest “Never Not Love You” on Sept. 27.

Throughout his 22 years on stage, Donahew has played all over North Texas and will do so again on Saturday at Billy Bob’s Texas.

The “World’s Largest Honky Tonk” and the Stockyards as a whole have played a big part in Donahew’s life.

Before he played his first show at Billy Bob’s on June 15, 2007, Donahew frequented the venue and historical district aplenty. In fact, his song “Stockyards” is a direct reflection of those times running around North Main Street and East Exchange Avenue.

The song has continued to be one of Donahew’s biggest and most recognizable songs, including being the official song of the Stockyards.

“I got a plaque and everything,” Donahew told the Star-Telegram.

Donahew not only has the official song of the Stockyards but also has his own day in Fort Worth.

In 2022, the city declared Oct. 22 “Casey Donahew Day.” Another plaque was added to his collection.

Donahew said the recognition is an honor and joked that on that day, he’s free from any and all speeding tickets.

The Fort Worth show is just one of the stops on Donahew’s “Still Chasing a Dream Tour,” which began in September and wraps up in late November.

It’s always special to be back in the Stockyards, and at Billy Bob’s, Donahew said. He’s looking forward to bringing an energetic show to Cowtown and shared what he hopes fans take from the concert.

“Just enjoy the ride,” Donahew said.
