Fort Worth baseball film ‘You Gotta Believe’ is now streaming. Here’s how to watch it
The film based on the Fort Worth baseball team that reached the Little League World Series is now streaming.
“You Gotta Believe” tells the true story of the 2002 Westside baseball team that dedicated its season to a teammate’s dying father and subsequently reached the Little League World Series. First baseman Robert Ratliff’s father, Bobby, underwent cancer treatment during the run and died in 2003.
The film held its world premiere in downtown Fort Worth last month, a day before it released in theaters on Aug. 30. Luke Wilson, Greg Kinnear, Sarah Gadon, Molly Parker, Lew Temple and Patrick Renna star in the film.
After a few weeks in theaters, “You Gotta Believe” released on VOD (video on demand) on Sept. 17.
The film is available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Vudu, YouTube, Google Play and the Microsoft Store. Renting the movie is $19.99, while purchasing is $24.99.
“You Gotta Believe” is also still playing in handful of theaters around North Texas:
- Movie Tavern Hulen- 4920 S. Hulen Road, Fort Worth
- Cinemark Rave Ridgmar 13 and XD- 2300 Green Oaks Road, Fort Worth
- Premiere Cinemas Burleson- 1581 SW. Wilshire Blvd., Burleson
- Cinemark Tinseltown Grapevine and XD- 911 State Highway 114 W., Grapevine
“You Gotta Believe” is directed by Ty Roberts and written by Lane Garrison.
While the film is set in Fort Worth, a majority of its scenes were filmed in Canada for budgetary reasons. A few scenes were shot in Fort Worth, including at the Stockyards.
During Westside’s 2002 Little League World Series run, the team faced elimination 11 times and won every game. But in the semifinals, Fort Worth lost 2-1 to a team from Kentucky in 11 innings.
Many of the Fort Worth players remain in touch since the outing over two decades ago. Last month, 10 of the 12 players reunited at Westside to play baseball against the child actors who portrayed them in the film.
