DFW Airport is undergoing construction. Here’s how it will impact your travel plans
The 3rd busiest airport in the world may become a bit busier.
Dallas-Fort Worth Airport announced a $3 billion remodel project of Terminal C, which has brought construction and closed Express South Parking and a fraction of the Terminal C parking garages.
DFW officials encourage travelers to book parking ahead because things may get more crowded.
This renovation is a small portion of a grand $9 billion “DFW Forward” project that will take the next six years to complete. This includes the reimagination of Terminal C with an added 115,000 square feet, partial remodels of Terminal A with an added 140,000 square feet, addition of Terminal F, and integration of the “International Parkway Project.”
Currently, travelers have to take shuttles to connect to individual terminals.
“The International Parkway Modernization project that will transition access to Terminals A, B and C to right-hand exits,” says DFW in a press release.
The inside remodel has begun in gates C28 to C33, closing down C30 security checkpoints and a few American Airline counters. Terminal C serves mainly American Airlines as well as hosts the American Admirals Club. Here is everything you need to know to work around the hoopla.

To make up for the Express South Parking lot closure, DFW opened the old Remote North parking lot. Both Terminal C’s North and Central parking garages are to remain open.
“Travelers can book parking online, or on the DFW mobile app, to save up to 50% off drive-up prices, and are encouraged to book early to secure the best rates and product availability,” DFW said.
For travelers who have to go through Terminal C, gates C10 through C21 will remain open for check in counters and security checkpoints, as well as access to all gates that are operating through there. C35 through C39 will also remain open throughout the duration of the project.
The two Skylink stations, the shuttle connecting other terminals, will remain open in Terminal C. And guests can also count on shopping and restaurants to remain available.
To ease the burden of construction“travelers are reminded to arrive at DFW at least two hours ahead of their flight and are encouraged to download the mobile app on iOS and Android devices, which was recently updated with travel alerts and construction updates, as well as push notifications and customization for travelers who opt in.”
Travelers can also access line wait times, parking availability and a detailed map of the terminals. DFW also has a live web page with updates on construction.
