Fort Worth hotel gets recognition from Time as one of the ‘world’s greatest places’
On one of the oldest red brick streets in Fort Worth stands a luxurious hotel known for its cowboy charm. This boutique hotel is cherished not only by locals but now recognized globally.
Bowie House by Auberge Resort Collection makes an appearance in Time magazine’s 2024 world’s greatest places.
“Back in the day, when cattle thundered through Fort Worth, the city earned its nickname “Cowtown.” Now, it’s a culture town. The hotel mirrors Fort Worth’s zeitgeist. Bowie House’s soul is the west; its spirit transcends that,” TIME said.
How Time identified Bowie House
The list has grown from 2023’s 50 places to now 100 places around the world. To determine their directory, they used their global correspondents to nominate places: “including hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums, parks, and more.”
Bowie House is the only Texas location that shows up on the list. The Star-Telegram toured the hotel when it first opened, and the luxurious hotel embodies Fort Worth perfectly. Come take an inside look at what makes this place one of the best in the world.

“We are thrilled and honored to be included in TIME’s World’s Greatest Places of 2024 among such an esteemed group of nominees. It’s wonderful to see Fort Worth recognized as a culture-rich city that celebrates the best of the West. We look forward to continuing to welcome guests to Bowie House, Auberge Resorts Collection, for an authentic taste of Fort Worth.” said Gaylord Lamy, General Manager of Bowie House, Auberge Resorts Collection.
Bowie House opened in 2023 by Jo Ellard, a National Cutting Horse Hall of Famer. She previously owned a cottage on Camp Bowie Blvd because of her ample time spent at the NCHA, headquartered in west Fort Worth.
She purchased the property next to her vacation home when it became available, which was then a church and a bar. After Dickies Arena opened in 2019, she realized Fort Worth needed another place for cowboys to stay. Her cottage, the church, and the bar were then demolished and are now the Bowie House today.
The hotel is no small bed and breakfast. Bowie House hosts 88 studio rooms, 12 lofts and six suites. It also has a signature suite starting at $6,000 a night that spans 2,250 square feet.
Townhomes adjacent to Bowie House will also pop up as permanent residences that also have access to hotel amenities.
Bowie House has a restaurant with a bar, a pool, fitness center, and spa. Bricks and Horses is its steakhouse, which uses all local ingredients. Its spa, Ash, offers a full-spectrum infrared sauna, steam room, and relaxation lounge.
Their studios are between 450 and 465 square feet, with prices beginning at $499 per night. Their suites range between 700 and 1,900 square feet, with prices beginning at $671 per night.
Bowie House by Auberge Resort Collection is located at 3700 Camp Bowie Blvd.
