Is a 110-degree heat index in the mix for Dallas-Fort Worth this week? Here’s the forecast
After nearly two weeks of below-normal temperatures, summer heat is returning to Dallas-Fort Worth.
North Texas has recorded eight days over 100 degrees this year. The latest triple-digit day came on July 16, and since then, the region has seen temperatures in the upper 80s to mid-90s.
However, that will change this week when triple digits come roaring back into Dallas-Fort Worth.
Temperatures will be in the upper 90s on Monday and Tuesday, with heat index values around 105 degrees, said Juan Hernandez, lead meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.
A heat advisory will go into effect at noon Monday for the afternoon and evening hours. The advisory will more than likely be extended into Tuesday, Hernandez said.
Hot and humid week ahead for Dallas-Fort Worth
The rest of the week in Dallas-Fort Worth is not looking much cooler.
Temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday will cross to 100 degrees. By Friday, temperatures are forecast to be around 102 degrees, Hernandez said.
Going into the weekend, Saturday will again be warm and around 102 degrees. On Sunday, temperatures will decrease slightly below triple digits and stay around 99 degrees.
Heat index values for this week will be around 104 to 110 degrees, with no rain chances in sight.
“There’s a lot of heat, no rain,” Hernandez said.
