Baby Dolls adult entertainment club destroyed by fire, Fort Worth Fire Department says
Fort Worth firefighters battled a blaze that destroyed an adult entertainment club Wednesday morning, officials said.
More than 20 units were dispatched to Baby Dolls, a topless bar located at 3705 FM 157, in far east Fort Worth near Euless, starting around 9:10 a.m., according to the department’s call log.
Kyle Clay, a spokesperson for the Fort Worth Fire Department, said firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:15 a.m. and found smoke coming from the strip club building.
According to Clay, the firefighters noticed the back wall was compromised at 9:17 a.m., and at 9:18 a.m. the wall collapsed, immediately followed by a collapse of the roof.
No one was inside the building when it collapsed, and no injuries have been reported, Clay said. Firefighters were expected to remain on the scene until around 5 or 6 p.m. to make sure the blaze is extinguished.
Video taken by Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV shows smoke and flames billowing from the building. The roof appears to be gone and the interior of the bar heavily damaged.
The fire appeared to be mostly controlled by around 10:30 a.m., WFAA reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Euless Fire Department assisted in fighting the fire.
The club was built in 1967 and is owned by Rick’s Cabaret International and Houston-based RCI Holdings, according to Tarrant Appraisal District records.
According to the Star-Telegram’s archives, the bar originally opened as the Fortune Club, founded by Arlington nightclub host Tommy Potts and featuring 1960s rock music bands
Then it briefly became the Brown Bag Club, followed by a teen club named Generation Gap that featured local rock stars such as John Nitzinger or Bugs Henderson, before it reopened as Baby Dolls.
