Dallas-Fort Worth will need to endure a sweltering Fourth of July holiday before storms arrive and cool down temperatures.
It’s been a hot week in North Texas, with daily temperatures around triple digits and heat index values up to 110 degrees. The region has recorded four days over 100 degreesthis year, per National Weather Service Fort Worth records.
Temperatures will continue to be warm and hover around the 100-degree mark on Independence Day, NWS lead meteorologist Steve Fano said.
Heat index values again could get as high as 110 degrees and a heat advisory is in effect through Thursday evening. But fret not, changes are on the way, Fano said.
A “cold” front is coming to cool down North Texas
Overnight Thursday and into Friday, a week cold front will move into North Texas, bringing storms and cooler temperatures.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely over Friday and Saturday, along with high temperatures in the upper 90s and lows in the 70s. Severe weather is not expected with these storms, Fano said.
Storms will continue into Sunday and early next week as temperatures stay in the mid-90s. Here’s a look at rain chances for North Texas over the next several days:
