Authorities are investigating a car crash that killed one driver and injured another early Thursday morning, Fort Worth police announced in a news release.

At around 6:15 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a major accident near northbound Texas 360 at Trinity Boulevard in far east Fort Worth.

The initial call reported a two-vehicle accident, police say. The drivers of both vehicles got out of their cars and were both hit by an oncoming vehicle, according to the release.

One of the drivers that was hit was pronounced dead at the scene and the other victim was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition.

The driver of the oncoming vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police say.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will release the identity of the deceased once the next of kin has been notified.

The Fort Worth Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit is working the case.
