Fort Worth police called after 3-year-old shows up at ER with apparent gunshot wound

A 3-year-old was taken to an emergency room with an apparent gunshot wound Sunday afternoon, Fort Worth police said.

The child was taken to the emergency room around 2:45 p.m., prompting staff to contact authorities, according to police. Officers arrived at the ER at 1251 Eastchase Parkway, where they learned the child may have shot himself or herself. The child was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was in stable condition.

Detectives with the crimes against children and gun violence units are investigating the shooting.
