Two people killed by drunk driver going wrong way on Fort Worth highway, police say
Two people were killed in a crash on Chisholm Trail Parkway near Interstate 30 about 12:45 a.m. Sunday, and the wrong-way driver who hit them faces charges of intoxicated manslaughter, according to Fort Worth police.
Investigators believe a drunken driver traveling in the wrong lanes of the toll road collided with an SUV, killing both occupants. The man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as Kristen Huddleston, 35, and Jared Huddleston, 42.
The driver of the vehicle that was going the wrong way was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Jail records identify him as 27-year-old Andrew Adamson. He was arrested early Sunday morning on two counts of intoxicated manslaughter.
An investigation by the police department’s traffic unit determined the victims’ SUV was headed west on I-30 when it took the Chisholm Trail Parkway exit and was struck by the suspect’s vehicle. Adamson was driving east in the westbound lanes, police said.
The department’s DWI Unit secured a search warrant for Adamson’s blood. Adamson remained in the hospital Monday.
