Saturday’s Tarrant County Veterans Day Parade celebrated TCU’s military legacy, its Army and Air Force ROTC programs, and alum and Medal of Honor recipient Maj. Horace S. Carswell Jr. in recognition of the university’s 150th anniversary.

The parade began at Panther Island Pavilion and followed North Forest Park Boulevard. Among the participants were the 1st Cavalry Division’s mounted horse detachment from Fort Cavazos, junior ROTC units and high school bands.

Fort Worth’s Veterans Day celebrations began in 1919 with an armistice procession through downtown to honor those who had fought in World War I. The event is organized by Tarrant County Veterans Council and hosted by the city of Fort Worth.
