Man ID’d in fatal shooting at family gathering
A man shot to death early Sunday outside a family gathering in a neighborhood has been identified as Oscar James Osorio of Fort Worth, officials said Tuesday.
Osorio, 32, died from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website. He was pronounced dead at 2:11 a.m. Sunday at John Peter Smith Hospital.
Osorio was shot as he tried to leave a family gathering in the 2500 block of Shropshire Street, police said. Two other people were wounded. Public records indicate that Osorio had lived at the house where the shooting occurred.
Edguardo Pesina, 21, was arrested hours later and remained in the Mansfield Jail on Tuesday, with bail set at $200,000. He faces a murder charge and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Pesina had been invited to the gathering by a family member, police said.
While there, the family member had a disagreement with another partygoer, and both the family member and Pesina were asked to leave, police said.
Witnesses told police that Pesina circled the area several times before opening fire when the victims tried to leave shortly before 1:30 a.m. Pesina is believed to have acted alone, police said.
Police found Pesina at his home after officers received information on his whereabouts. A semiautomatic handgun believed to have been used in the shooting has been recovered, police said.
