Fort Worth firefighters Sunday recovered the body of a man who drowned in the Trinity River late Saturday night.

A man died after drowning in the Trinity River overnight Saturday, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as 26-year-old Israel Alvarez.

Authorities recovered his body around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, according to the fire department. Someone called 911 to report the drowning around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

The drowning happened near Panther Island Pavilion, where a concert — Shaquille O’Neal’s Bass All-Stars Music Festival — was taking place around that time, but authorities don’t believe Alvarez was attending the show. Investigators said he went into the water on the opposite side of the river.
