A man wanted in connection with crimes in Maryland and Colorado engaged on Friday in a standoff with authorities on an Interstate 30 bridge near downtown Fort Worth.

The man, whose name and age authorities did not release, was involved in a vehicle pursuit that began about 11:30 a.m. when a Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to arrest him in the 1700 block of Oak Village Boulevard in Arlington.

The fugitive led deputies to Dallas County, then returned to Tarrant County.

After authorities used stop sticks to penetrate the fugitive’s vehicle tire, he drove at slow speeds along I-30 and stopped on the bridge at Highway 287, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities shut down the interstate and highway lanes. The fugitive eventually left the vehicle and was taken into custody.

The offenses that authorities allege occurred in Maryland are felonies. The sheriff’s office did not further describe them. The Colorado warrant is on an assault charge, the sheriff’s office said.

The man was arrested on suspicion of evading arrest in a vehicle and forgery of a government or national instrument, the sheriff’s office said.
