2 workers hurt, 1 critical, near high school construction site in northwest Fort Worth
Two workers were injured Friday morning, one of them critically, in an accident near the Eagle Mountain High School construction site in northwest Fort Worth, officials said.
Craig Trojacek, spokesperson for the Fort Worth Fire Department, said they received a call regarding a “sick person” in the 3200 block of Bonds Ranch Road shortly before 9 a.m. When crews arrived at the scene they realized two people had been injured in a construction-related accident.
The workers were digging trenches for gas and water lines when a chain on some equipment snapped and hit them, according to KXAS-TV.
Trojacek said the accident site was approximately a mile from the main road through heavy terrain. Firefighters used specialized equipment to rescue the two workers, who were found about 10-15 feet below ground.
One of the workers received minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, Trojacek said. The other worker was transported to a hospital in critical condition via air ambulance.
Eagle Mountain High School is located in Fort Worth but will be part of the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District. It will be the district’s fourth high school, and the projected opening date is August 2024, according to the school’s website.
