Fort Worth police investigating fatal shooting on Ivy Wood Lane

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in a homicide on Tuesday.

Police were dispatched to the 5100 block of Ivy Wood Lane, in south Fort Worth, around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in response to a call about a shooting.

When they arrived, officers found a man dead with a gunshot wound. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Jailon Xerion-Harold Freeman, 25. He died from a gunshot wound to the head on a sidewalk outside an apartment building, according to the medical examiner.

Detectives learned that Freeman was involved in an argument with someone when that person shot him and fled the scene.

Homicide detectives are interviewing a person of interest in reference to this shooting but have not announced an arrest, according to a police spokesperson.

This is an ongoing investigation.
