Man dies after fiery crash near TCU, Fort Worth police say

A man had to be airlifted to a local hospital for treatment after his car caught fire near Texas Christian University on Tuesday morning, Fort Worth police say. He later died from his injuries.

A man died after receiving various burns when his vehicle caught fire Tuesday morning near TCU, police said.

The man was driving southbound near the 2400 block of Forest Park Boulevard around 5 a.m. when his black Ford Flex hit a curb and a metal guardrail, according to police. The vehicle then traveled through a grass median and hit a wooden electric pole head on. The Ford Flex landed on the passenger side and the rear end crashed into a building.

The vehicle caught fire near the front and the driver had to be extracted by the Fort Worth Fire Department.

The driver suffered burns to his face, legs, arms and body, police said, and MedStar personnel treated him at the scene. He was then airlifted to a local hospital but later died from his injuries.

Police said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
