A 5-month-old girl separated from her conjoined twin during a surgery in January is back at home, Cook Children’s Medical Center announced Thursday.

JamieLynn Finley was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. Her sister, AmieLynn, will remain in the neonatal intensive care unit for at least a few more weeks.

The girls were born to Fort Worth parents Amanda Arciniega and James Finley in October.

They were joined from the lower part of their breast bone to their belly button and spent the first 16 weeks of their lives face to face, Dr. José Iglesias, the lead surgeon who operated on the infants, said in January after an 11-hour surgery to separate the twins. They were the first conjoined twins to be separated at Cook Children’s.

EECU Community Foundation has established a fund for the girls’ family.
