Fort Worth pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by vehicle, police say
A Fort Worth pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Thursday, according to police.
Fort Worth units on patrol arrived at the site of a major accident around 7:10 p.m. Thursday involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near the intersection of northbound Beach Street and the eastbound lanes of the East Freeway service road.
Upon arrival, officers saw that the victim, an adult male, had been walking in the northbound lanes of Beach Street when he was struck by a passenger vehicle traveling northbound on Beach Street. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigating officers, officials said in a statement.
At this time, no criminal charges are expected.
The victim was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for treatment. He is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, according to officials. The Traffic Investigation Unit detectives were notified but will not be responding to the scene. A Crime Scene Search Unit has been requested, and Central Division officers will be conducting the on-scene investigation.
Fort Worth police and Medstar personnel also responded to the scene.
The identities of the pedestrian and driver are unknown.
