Flames destroyed an abandoned church early Tuesday, the third building to burn in two days in the Terrell Heights Historic District, a fire official said.

Investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Fort Worth Fire Department and the state fire marshal’s office were trying to determine whether the fires were intentionally set.

“There’s no cause yet, but it raises an index of suspicion,” fire Lt. Kyle Falkner said Tuesday. “We have not established if these are related.”

About 3 a.m. Tuesday, fire was reported in the church building near Daggett Avenue and Williams Street. “We’ve been told that it had been vacant for a few years,” Falkner said.

About 2:30 a.m., firefighters had responded to a blaze in an abandoned building in the 900 block of East Hattie Street.

On Monday, a fire was reported about 11:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Annie Street in a one-story abandoned building.

No injuries were reported.

The buildings are within blocks of one another in the neighborhood southeast of downtown, fire officials said.
