The Fort Worth Fire Department responded to a fire at a commercial building that served as a church in north Fort Worth early Tuesday morning, according to officials.

The fire department responded to reports of a structure fire in the 3300 block of Deen Road just after 1:15 a.m, officials said in a Facebook post. There were no injuries.

Crews arrived at the scene to find fire coming through the roof of a church. No one was inside at the time, but the building was an active church, fire officials said in a statement. Officials with the church could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

“Because the fire had a head start on responding crews and the overall size of the church, extra ladder trucks were called in to help fight the fire defensively (from the outside),” the fire department said.

About 40 firefighters were needed to bring the fire under control within an hour.

Fort Worth fire officials described the structure as a total loss after responding to a church fire around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023.

The state of the building was described as a “total loss” by officials, but firefighters were able to salvage some of the music equipment housed inside the church.
