Man shot to death at south Fort Worth club is identified
The man killed early Sunday in a drive-by shooting at a South Hills liquor store turned after-hours club was identified Monday as Aldwin Brown of Fort Worth.
Brown, 26, died of a gunshot to his chest, and his death was a homicide, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office reported.
Police have said Brown and two other men were shot in the parking lot of Liquorville, 5203 McCart Ave., about 3:45 a.m. after club patrons had been asked to leave the building.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is investigating why the store was open at that hour, and agents will assist Fort Worth police, Victor Kuykendoll, regional director of the TABC, said Monday.
Liquorville is licensed for package sales only — no on-premises drinking — and can operate from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday only, he said.
Witnesses told police that two women started fighting inside the after-hours club, and security asked everyone to leave. The fight continued in the parking lot. A gunman drove by and fired several shots, hitting three people, police said. The vehicle headed north on McCart Avenue, police said.
No arrests had been made by Monday afternoon.
Brown was found inside the store. He died at 4:21 a.m. at John Peter Smith Hospital, the medical examiner reported.
The other men hit were taken to JPS in serious condition, officials said. Their condition could not be learned on Monday.
