Fort Worth is ending the year with the average price of a gallon of gas going up by 11 cents at $2.67, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 1,039 stations in Fort Worth.

But that is still 22 cents a gallon lower than a year ago. The lowest price in the state yesterday was $1.89 a gallon while the highest was $4.17.

“While the national average declined for the seventh straight week, with oil prices rallying, it remains to be seen if we will manage another week of gasoline price declines. We’re still waiting for the national average to fall below $3 per gallon, something that is suddenly a bit less likely given the extreme cold weather, interrupting refining operations in the south, curbing gasoline production and potentially driving prices up slightly,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices:

  • Dallas — $2.69 a gallon, up 7.9 cents from last week.
  • Waco — $2.48 a gallon, up 4.2 cents last week.

  • College Station — $2.63 a gallon, down 1.5 cents from last week.
