Fort Worth resident wins $1 million Powerball prize in Texas Lottery

A Fort Worth resident has claimed $1 million after purchasing a second-tier winning ticket for the Texas Lottery game Powerball, according to a Texas Lottery Commission news release.

The ticket matched five of the white ball numbers but not the red Powerball number.

Powerball grand prizes start at $20 million, according to the release. Players win by matching five numbers and one Powerball number.

The winner, who asked to remain anonymous, purchased the ticket at 7-Eleven 218 at 19765 U.S. Highway 287 E. in Harrold.

The Texas Lottery started in 1992. Since 2009 it has contributed $194 million to Texas veteran programs.
