Labor Day: Your guide to what’s open and closed in Fort Worth
We are heading into the Labor Day holiday and that means Fort Worth city offices and some businesses are closed, but emergency services will remain open.
Labor Day is on Monday and has been a national holiday since 1894 — a result of labor activists fighting to recognize the contributions of American workers. The holiday is held on the first Monday of September each year.
Here’s what to know about what’s open and closed on Labor Day:
Fort Worth city services
Most city offices will be closed on Monday, including City Hall.
Emergency services will be available as usual and there will be no change in garbage, recycling, yard waste or bulk collection, according to the city. For garbage service, only the city’s drop-off stations and environmental collection center will be closed on Monday.
All Fort Worth library locations will close on Monday and reopen on Tuesday. The city’s main pet adoption centers — Chuck & Brenda Silcox Animal Care & Adoption Center and the North Animal Campus — are closed on Monday. However, the two PetSmart Adoption Centers near the Hulen Mall and Alliance Town Center are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday.
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden, Fort Worth Water Gardens, Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge, Forrest Park Pool, Marine Creek Pool and golf courses, are open Monday. The Haws Athletic Center, late-night programs and the Log Cabin Village will be closed on Monday, while the Chisholm Trail and Victory Forest community centers will remain open.
Trinity Metro TEXRail and The Dash will operate on their regular schedules on Monday, while the Trinity Metro bus, ZIPZONE and ACCESS paratransit services will operate on Sunday schedules.
