Three children were onboard a Fort Worth school bus when it crashed and overturned on its side Tuesday morning.

The accident occurred around 7:25 a.m. near the 5200 block of East Rosedale Street.

A spokesperson from Fort Worth ISD said initial reports stated the school bus was T-boned by another vehicle; however, the police department said the accident occurred after an “unsafe lane change of a passenger vehicle.”

“The bus [then] jumped a curb and tipped over on its side, sliding several feet into a grassy lot,” police said.

MedStar responded to the scene and five people, including three children, were examined for possible injuries. No one was seriously injured, and no one was transported to local hospitals.

The spokesperson from Fort Worth ISD said that the students “are in class today,” and that their parents were notified.

“The FWISD commends the swift and evasive action of the bus driver, who kept the incident from escalating,” said Claudia Garibay, the executive director of external and emergency communications for the school district.
