Fort Worth firefighters are battling a large grass fire in a heavily wooded area just north of Interstate 30 and just east of East Loop 820, according to the fire department.

The fire is currently not moving toward or near any structures and no evacuations have been ordered.

Because the area is so heavily wooded, a fire department spokesperson said there’s no way right now to accurately measure the size of the fire. Crews have been on scene since around 1:30 p.m., including 70 fire personnel, 12 fire engines and eight brush trucks.

Because of the heat, the fire department said it is trying to regularly cycle out firefighters. A rehab truck is on scene for personnel to go to for cooler air and water, and medics are on scene to monitor firefighter health.
