Lanes reopen after crash in north Fort Worth shuts down traffic on northbound I-35W
A car accident caused all lanes of a major highway in north Fort Worth to shut down for about an hour Wednesday morning.
Around 7:30 a.m., TEXpress Alerts tweeted that northbound I-35W, north of Texas 170, was closed.
“This closure is anticipated to last for an extended period,” said a tweet from TEXpress. “Motorists should expect delays.”
All lanes reopened about 8:30 a m.
The Fort Worth Police Department said that a black Cadillac that was traveling on the interstate crashed into a barrel in a construction zone.
No one was injured in the accident, but the area was closed because of large construction equipment that had to be moved, the police spokesperson said.
WFAA-TV reported that an ambulance, fire truck and police cars were seen blocking the northbound lanes near Alliance Gateway Freeway and traffic appeared to be backed up for several miles.
