Man rescued out of Trinity River after pickup vaults over guardrail, lands in water

A man was injured early Monday after his pickup truck vaulted over a guardrail and landed in the Trinity River in Fort Worth, authorities said.

A man was rescued out of the Trinity River early Monday after his pickup truck vaulted over a guardrail and landed in the river, Fort Worth police said.

The driver, who was in good condition, was taken to a local hospital.

Fort Worth patrol officers responded to a call of a major accident just before 3 a.m. in the 2700 block of the West Freeway.

A witness at the scene directed police to a section of the river under the eastbound lanes of the West Freeway just east of South University Drive.

Officers found the pickup truck and its driver in the water, and they assisted the man out. He was the only one in the vehicle.

Police did not release any other details on the crash.
