Medical examiner ID’s 36-year-old man killed outside Fort Worth Kroger in late June
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal shooting outside a Fort Worth Kroger in late June.
Spenser Joseph Slavik, 36, died at a local hospital from gunshot wounds to the torso and left upper extremity, according to the medical examiner. Slavik succumbed to his injuries about three hours after the shooting occurred on the morning of June 22.
Shots were fired around 7:40 a.m. at the grocery store, which is located at 9144 Camp Bowie West Blvd.
On the day of the shooting, responding officers said they detained three people at the scene who were being questioned about their possible involvement.
On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the police department said they’ve made an arrest in Slavik’s death, but that “all the individuals involved are minors.”
“Therefore, we are unable to release/share any other information regarding this,” the spokesperson added.
An online obituary said that Slavik was a Tarrant County native, who was born in Fort Worth and raised in White Settlement.
“Spenser loved working and helping people and worked at several places including the grocery business, the food industry and in the Fort Worth Stockyards. He loved being on a computer and was considered a whiz doing anything on them,” the obituary read. “He could take things apart and loved figuring out how they worked. He had a very high IQ and could figure things out very quickly before anyone else. Spenser was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and will be deeply missed.”
Slavik is survived by his parents and two brothers. The 36-year-old’s funeral service was on July 1. He’s expected to be buried in Van Buren, Arkansas.
