Fort Worth police officer involved in crash while responding to call

A Fort Worth police officer’s vehicle was T-boned while the officer was traveling to a reported incident late Wednesday night.

The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the 6000 block of Overton Ridge Boulevard.

“The officer was traveling westbound with lights and sirens on en route to another officer needing help,” a spokesperson from the Police Department said. “The officer slowed at the intersection of Overton Ridge and Bryant Irvin to check traffic and believed he was clear.”

As the officer drove across the intersection, his vehicle was hit by another car traveling southbound on Bryant Irvin.

The driver whose car hit the police officer’s vehicle was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

The police officer also appears to be in good condition, the spokesperson said.
