Dads in North Texas can get free gas this Father’s Day weekend at two local gas stations.

North Texas Honda Dealers announced that after helping nurses and veterans fill their tanks earlier in the year, “now it is dad’s turn!” on its social media accounts.

“Instead of Dads getting another work tie or goofy pair of socks this Father’s Day weekend, what’s more helpful than some.. FREE GAS!?” a news release said. “With gas prices hitting another record-high in Texas this week, the North Texas Honda Dealers are popping up at local gas stations to help relieve pain at the pump for Dads starting Friday — no matter what type of car they drive.”

From 11 a.m. to noon Friday, fathers were able to receive free gas in Fort Worth at the Valero located at 10880 N. Beach St.

Destin Judy, a spokesperson for North Texas Honda Dealers, said they pumped over 1,500 gallons of gas, or about $6,600 worth, at the Friday event for over 150 people.

They will hold a second event in Frisco, at the Valero at 3272 Parkwood Blvd. from 11 a.m. to noon Sunday.

The group also plans to have free ice cream carts for National Ice Cream Day on July 17 and a free book fair when summer comes to an end.
